David Peart

COO & Co-Founder

David is Chief Operating Officer and co-founder of Black Star Entertainment Group. He runs the day-to-day company business, produces concerts and manages the careers of various artists across the United States.

A former concert producer with a major New York City agency, and with a solid background in the nightclub industry, he has provided management and logistical support for some of the most popular venues in the tri-state area; overseeing large-scale concert events. He has also served as business manager for reggae entertainment legend Little Roy. Today, David also serves as Producing Director of the Oskar Schindler Performing Arts Center in West Orange, NJ, and does general entertainment consulting.

A decorated, retired New York City detective and professional investigator, David has 30 years of investigative experience, and has worked on some of the most high-profile crime cases in the country. He has served as lead investigator on hundreds of celebrity cases and confidential criminal inquiries in the U.S. and around the world. David is a member of the Detectives Endowment Association and the National Association of Police Organizations.

Julie Black

Owner & Co-Founder

Julie is the Owner and co-founder of Black Star Entertainment Group. Her focus is on event production and managing the background functions of the company, while she works on select projects; and with select artists, show and event producers.

A former booking agent with a major New York booking agency, Julie spent years booking artists across many music genres: R&B, rap, reggae, club and house music; as well as many DJs, such as Kid Capri, in the U. S. and abroad. She has booked legendary artists such as Patti LaBelle, New Kids on the Block and LL Cool J. Today, she runs Black Star with partner David Peart, and looks to take the company in new directions and build to new heights.

In 1992, Julie founded Black Star Booking, where she worked on projects with impresarios such as Walter Latham, Jr. and Bob Sumner, On the comedy circuit, she has booked Capone, Bill Bellamy, Sheryl Underwood, Talent and many more.

Julie's is also a Certified Community Producer with Brooklyn Community Access Television (BCAT) and a host for the SUNY Downstate Health Center cable program. She holds a Master's degree from the University of Nebraska and Bachelor degrees from State University of New York, and St. John's University in mass communications.
